Ocelo vs Screen Studio

Polished product videos, native architecture and lifetime ownership.

Screen Studio popularized automatic zoom for product demos, but transitioned to a mandatory recurring subscription model and runs on an Electron web runtime. Ocelo was engineered from day one as a 5.5 MB native macOS app (SwiftUI, ScreenCaptureKit, Core Image) with an outright lifetime purchase option and a headless CLI for AI coding agents.

macOS 15 (Sequoia)+ · Apple silicon · 5.5 MB download · Every feature. Clean 720p exports up to 60 seconds.

$79 once to own, or $24/year

You keep the software you paid for. One license covers up to 3 of your Macs and every update to version 1. No recurring bill required to keep exporting.

5.5 MB native binary vs 300MB+ Electron runtime

Ocelo uses macOS hardware video encoders, Apple’s SpeechAnalyzer for captions, and Core Image shaders. There is no bundled Chromium, no node process, and no bloated memory footprint.

Headless CLI & AI Agent automation

Ocelo ships a complete headless command line (`--record --json`, `--zooms`, `--captions`) and a documented agent skill (`/skills.md`), enabling Claude Code, Cursor, and CI scripts to record polished product demos automatically.

Common Questions

Clear comparisons, no marketing fluff.

How does Ocelo’s automatic zoom compare to Screen Studio?

Both apps detect clicks and cluster them into camera moves. Ocelo calculates camera motion using the step response of a critically damped spring in logarithmic zoom space with physical shutter motion blur, and samples the source footage at native Retina resolution rather than scaling pre-rendered pixels.

Can I script Ocelo from my terminal or an AI agent?

Yes. Ocelo includes a headless CLI (`/Applications/Ocelo.app/Contents/MacOS/Ocelo --record --window "Safari" --zooms ... --json`) and a turnkey website demo script. You can install the agent skill in one line with `curl -fsSL https://ocelo.app/install-skill.sh | sh`.

Can I try Ocelo before purchasing?

Yes. Ocelo is free to download with every single feature unlocked. You can record as long as you want and export clean 720p videos up to 60 seconds with zero watermarks.
