Privacy policy

Draft — needs a lawyer's eye before launch. It describes what the app actually does today, which is the hard part; the wording is the easy part.

Your recordings

They stay on your Mac. Recording, editing, caption generation and export all happen locally. We have no server that could receive a recording, and the app has no code that would send one.

What the app sends

The app makes network requests for two things, and only these two:

• Licence checks. Your licence key and an activation identifier are sent to Polar, our payments provider, to confirm the subscription is active. A label identifying the Mac — its name — is stored so you can tell your devices apart when releasing one.
• Update checks. The app fetches a small file listing the current version. This is an ordinary web request; it carries no identifier for you.

Payments

Purchases are handled by Polar, acting as merchant of record. They receive your email address and billing details in order to take payment and to meet tax obligations. We never see your card details. Polar's own privacy policy governs that data.

This website

We use Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool, to count page views. It records no cookies, no fingerprints and no personal data, and there is nothing to consent to. Downloads are served from Cloudflare R2, which keeps ordinary server logs.

Your rights

The only personal data tied to you is what Polar holds for your subscription. To see it, correct it, or have it deleted, email hola@ocelo.app and we will handle it with Polar. Deleting it ends the subscription, since the licence is keyed to it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the release notes will say so rather than the page quietly changing.
