3.8 MB · SwiftUI · Zero Electron

Built with macOS frameworks, not a bundled browser.

A tool that records 60fps video while you compile code or run a local dev server has no business eating a gigabyte of RAM for its own UI. Ocelo is written entirely in Swift on top of ScreenCaptureKit, Core Image, Vision, and AVFoundation — the whole app bundle is 5.5 MB.

macOS 15 (Sequoia)+ · Apple silicon · 5.5 MB download · Every feature. Clean 720p exports up to 60 seconds.

5.5 MB on disk, zero bundled runtimes

No Chromium helper processes, no bundled FFmpeg binary, and no 1.5 GB Whisper weights duplicated inside the app. Ocelo uses the hardware encoders and speech models macOS already manages.

No Accessibility permission required

Many recorders install a global `CGEventTap` to watch clicks and keystrokes, which grants them permission to read every password you type. Ocelo polls pointer coordinates at 120 Hz without an event tap and never asks for Accessibility access.

What you scrub is what you export

The interactive editor preview and the final H.264/HEVC exporter run the exact same Core Image `Compositor` and `TimeMap`. There is no separate preview approximation that disagrees with the rendered file.

Questions

Straight answers.

Which macOS versions and Macs are supported?

Ocelo requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. On-device caption generation uses Apple’s SpeechAnalyzer framework on macOS 26.

How does Ocelo detect clicks for auto-zoom without Accessibility permission?

Ocelo polls global pointer coordinates and left-mouse button state at 120 Hz using standard Quartz window and event state APIs (`CGEventSource`), mapping them to the target window’s live bounds without installing an intrusive event tap.
